As the winter passes away, it’s time to get your bikes out of a dark areas of your garages and bring it back to live. If you don’t have enough money to pay for the repair, bring it to 10 Jagielończyka street.
On the 17th of April CRK invites you for The Spring Bike Cleaning- a free bike repair workshops, during which the team of bike repair pros will help you reassemble your two wheel machine. Some of the bike parts come from the previously fixed bikes (stripped from unnecessary stuff), some were “donated” and some of the parts will be exchanged.

Taken into account the small number of people and resources involved- CRK is, still, probably the most active and engaged culture center in Wrocław. The history of this place begins around 1997. Ideologically based on its squat, anarchistic provenance this place started as a legal, open platform where projects are run collectively by group of dedicated people. Located in the Nadodrze district (on 10 Jagielończyka street), CRK is organically ingrained in the city of Wrocław and is actively participating in its social, political and cultural life.
I went to 10 Jagielończyka street to talk with Kuba Majchrzak- one of the folks from CRK, involved in organizing events, running the CRK website, co-editing the CRK paper- Organ. Kuba is also a member of a punk trio- The Kurws (myspace website here).
To know about the history of CRK and what they’re currently involved in- listen to the podcast files below.

The controversial movie “Windhorse” directed by Paul Wagner, will be screened at 8 pm today in CRK.
For over fifty years, Tibet has been under the tight control of the Chinese communist government, and especially the secret police known as the PSB, or Public Security Bureau. In 1950, Chinese forces invaded Tibet, and in 1959, His Holiness the Dalai Lama fled into exile in India..
The fact that, as reported by New York Times and Washington Post, Beijing responded aggressively to thwart screenings of the film at the Washington D.C. International Film Festival, proves that “In Tibet nothing is more dangerous than the truth”.
The film will be screened in CRK today at 8 pm. Go there to open your eyes to the images obstructed by mainstream media, images that were captured by dedicated people who endangered their lives to capture the true face of contemporary Tibet.

On the 2nd of March, that is on this coming Wednesday CRK Centrum Reanimacji Kultury, has organized the screening of a documentary BIKE.
BIKE is proposition for everyone for whom bikes are not merely an alternative means of transportation. The film directed by Anthony Howard describes the environment of the New York cyclists joined under the Black Label Bicycle Club, which the director futilely tries to sign up to.
For the subculture of devoted city bikers from BLBC, cycling is treated rather seriously- for them it’s a matter of political and social importance.
Expect great photography and some quality underground music.

The film tells the story of a hitchhiker traveling through South America. The spontaneous trip is full of adventure and absurd humor- the movie is described as a combination of Jakass and Cejrowski’s documentaries.
That’s not all though.. CRK has also prepared something different for the fans of off-mainstream cinema. On the 9th of March you’ll have a chance to see “La Zona”- a Spanish, Mexican drama movie.
